How to work together?
For the time being no new videos are being releasde. This is because
1) Stuff is happening behind the scenes, including video production, probably not only in my persynal life.
2) The pigs just killed someone in Colorado. I am *very angry* and want to make focoist art. That is the wrong line.
I am not sad about the pig murder in Colorado: comrades must turn their sadness into anger and their anger into energy.
Pigs, watch me gather footage of dying pigs on ogrish & elsewhere in the next month and then note the spike in 187s. Each time you pigs off someone I will make a video about pigs getting offed set to rocking music to entertain youth who will cheer and leer at that. Synchronicity happens.
3) I want to watch what becomes of Monkey Smashes Heaven & ShubelMorgen; I want to figure out how to relate, if at all, with Monkey Smashes Heaven & ShubelMorgen
Specifically, MSH/SHU have a solid practice of putting out the Maoist despite being marred as by idealism and various forms of opportunism.
Basically, as Art Minister I am meant to produce, criticize, and steer art. MSH/SHU criticizes my steerage because of sex and very fine points about history re the BPP and GPCR. Happily, they are doing what I said: If you don't like the art make your own. I just wish their art was getting more views, which it would, if they abandoned their idealism.
I think that I can say that the fine line points of criticism might be correct. I know not. As MIM told me months ago I am _art Minister, NOT theory minister. I am actually glad to get line directions like "please no more GPCR art".
This raises the question of how front line cultural workers are to best function in the movement. MIM has made clear that the party will give lots of leeway to the frontline producers of art -- let 100 flowers bloom! MIM however also wants oversight from experienced comrades with correct line. Those comrades will be held to account.
Okay, so this brings back to MSH/SHU. They hate my art. :( They make their own. :D They have the right to speak based on their artistic production. But: Instead of saying "Make that art" or "Do this!" -- instead of issuing concrete line oriented art paramaters, they simply whine in the idealistic fashion.
Of course, the Art Ministry is thoroughly pornified -- that is the natural consequence of being in the pornified first world. It is inevitable especially given the method of taking the old evil culture and picking it apart remixing and re-presenting it. MIM's line on remixing the old culture is correct.
MSH/SHU don't like porn much (unlike the entire youth generation of amerika). Who likes rape? People who haven't been raped. Rape is a Very common fantasy. Hm.
MSH/SHU has this idealistic puritan line that looks oh so pure and good but that idealism makes them practically ineffective (few viewers) and means they ignore the concrete questions I have raised namely:
What is the eroticization of power?
Can we use the to eroticization of power to oppose the eroticization of power?
What is Maoist art?
How should Maoists work together to produce art?
No answer on these questions means no right to bitch me out.
In defence of MSH/SHU:
MIM -- and this Ministry -- have made clear ALL comrades should be capable of working independantly, of producing the hard line not watered down. And that is basically the best of MSH/SHUs critiques, that my line is too down.
In My defence:
I have *constantly* hammered home the labor aristocracy thesis and the anti war message.
MIM has never said "dont take up the metaphoric struggle in art". Just the opposite. But because of our little pig murder I am setting that aside, for now. Too much visualisation leads to much realization. Images are powerful. Brains are like electromagnets.
Mature comrades are expected to be able to work independantly to not need their hands held. MSH/SHU should not need to be told basic things like retagging their videos, listing them in wikipedia, doing the concrete things that would increase their audience.
What I would *like* to see evolve out of this struggle is:
Lots of other people following MSH/SHUs lead and making their own web pages, their own videos, their own art!
The development of some sort of framework for reviewing art production.
I have watched all SHU videos and they are good even though the only audience are hardcore Maoists. All the still art I am seeing at MSH (and RAIM and MMG) is also good. Okay, so the only persyn who's art is considered "questionable" is mine. Well, lots and lots of people are looking at that art, deal with it. Take up the concrete struggle either by making your own damned art or telling me what art to make or not to make. Or propose some framework for artistic review.
Basically, until we get good definitions of "Maoist art" and a thorough understanding of the problem of eroticization of power the transformation that I guess MSH/SHU would like to see in this Ministry's art production probably won't happen. The correct line is forged in struggle with the incorrect line.
So even though the Pixies have a great song, "This Monkey's Gone to Heaven" which would be a perfect one to illustrate idealism and push/criticize MSHs blog I'm not yet making it. This is partly because MSH requested that this Minister refrain from making art about the GPCR. I am not sectarian, unlike MSH/SHU. So MSH has a chance to grab that song and make their own video while I step back and just listen. That video would increase MSH traffic but I am going to see if MSH makes it on their own or not. If they don't I will. I may well include a link to MSH though MIM can always tell me what to do or not to do. Indeed Your Minister is most gracious.
