Socialist _Realism
"keeping it real" is something we hear from the lumpen proletariat and something our art should practice. While it's okay to exaggerate characters for effect, to make things obvious, or even to make a crypto struggle point -- it's not *generally okay. Mao was a bit wrong on that and I've got to call him out on it. It's called socialist *realism* you know.
People want things that they can relate to and that can inspire them. If you make the heros like: "Superman" able to leap a tall building etcetera they become unbelievable and unattainable. We are not trying to get people to jump over buildings or even off of them. We are trying to get people to perform athletics at the best human level possible.
This point of athleticism ties back the idea of the struggle being in your body. You don't need to get shot at to feel the proletarian struggle. Your body should boil when you see injustice and you should then go and do sport to get the endorphin rush and purge your poisons. The party calls it purge for a reason it is describing a biological physical process -- getting rid of poison.
It is called "socialist Realism". Things should be realistic. We don't want characters with laser beams unless we think we can inspire our scientists to make laser beams. We don't want our soldiers bullet proof unless we can deliver that. This is about making false hopes, about leaving people feeling ripped off and disappointed when they believe our inspirational art.
Basically if it feels hokey or tacky just ask why. Struggle with your own internal revulsion mechanisms. You should have an inner moral compass, something that makes you feel "No, Bukake is just plain wrong".
Tips on spotting CIA are appreciated. I've my own views on this but if the party can expose some of its that might help me resolve a doubt.
