How to make movies: The way to learn is by doing.

"your best bet: download the song, and then split the mp3 from the video. i would like you to learn how to do that so you can learn how to make your own art! :D erightsoft has a great free video editor, so is vlc. get those downloaded. get a plugin for firefox to download the video. conver the .flv you download to avi. splitting the mp3 off the video *is* possible." -moussy

> now its time for making Maoist agitation, how?
like what do all of you use to make the vids?
powerpoint..? hoho.. i have no idea! please tell me how!

SCREEN RECORDERS

Screen recorders record *whatever is displayed on the screeen*. They are one of my ". "dirty secrets" You don't want to find a recorder that just takes a still snapshot. You want one that records whatever happens on screen as an avi. SnapzPro is good but has a timeout after like a week or so. You can find freeware screen recorders on google.

You *could* make a video out of a powerpoint presentation: Make your powerpoint. Start the screen recorder. Run the power point. Turn off the power point. Turn off the screen recorder. Add sound using quicktime pro or import the movie into moviemaker, add sound track and export.

Yes, you are right to start simply and work up. I started out with animating gifs. Microsoft gif animator is a good free tool for animating gifs. Try that! Seriously. It's a good start. The powerpoint idea is also good!

I used microsoft moviemaker -- it's simple and version 2 was free -- it requires xp

Or you can use iMovie on mac -- also simple and comes with the system

i dont know a linux solution

i get footage from the internet. i search google video, altavista video search (very good!) and youtube for footage sources. Also animated gifs are easy to find -- look for live journal animated gif feed

i get mp3s from altavista's mp3 search

you have to convert the videos to a form your software can use
avi works best for cross platform. youtube will compress it for you so don't worry about the size of your file. i never do its never a problem.

what is important: convert videos to avi using VLC or erightsoft's conversion program

i splice things either using moviemaker or quicktime pro.

does this make sense? ask specific questions.

The way to learn is by doing it!
